It’s a cold day, a man sits shivering, starving, scared, not knowing when the next meal would come. Along comes an African American woman holding sandwiches, she hands one to him, it’s a ham and cheese, his favorite. This man who has named himself Squirrel has never known kindness like this before. The man looks at her unsure of what to say, and she says, “Go forth with God and thank him for the food that I have given you.” She came back every day, twice a day and Squirrel counted himself lucky that he had met Arnetta Griffins.
Griffin, with a heart of gold and hands to feed many, formerly homeless herself found the grace of God in herself to feed a multitude of people with her own hands. Griffin stated, “I just obeyed God when he told me that it was time for me to go feed the unfortunate one’s.” Since Griffin was homeless for some time, she knew what it was like to be hungry. Back in 2000, I got sick and had lost my job. And since I had no other income coming in but mine, and I had 8 kids, I got evicted, and had nowhere to go for some time! It was hard and heart breaking, but thank God, he healed me. And wow, I looked at my life saying, ‘what can I do with my life and give back?’ And now I'm helping the unfortunate ones! You have to have been where a person is at to really know how to help them out the situation that they are in.” So, she used that passion and experience to pay it forward and help people near her home. She would be there everyday twice a day to feed people who were so grateful because they would never know when the next meal would come.

In June of 2017 she created God’s Kitchen, a nonprofit organization in Kenosha Wisconsin to feed people who are not so fortunate. Griffin stated that God’s Kitchen “Is a very special name because it's all about God in his kitchen! It's helping whoever is in need, for food, prayers, love, understanding, and clothes. It was made to show them love and try to guide them in the right direction.”  Not only has she been able to feed men and women, she has been able to provide clothing and soon, she prays, a place where they can have shelter.
Her heart is the purest heart because she started helping the unfortunate with money out of her own pocket and her own bare hands. It is rare to see a human being with so much passion and understanding and care for a cause that can help so many people. She has no judgement or ill will towards these unfortunate in fact her regulars have become friends with her and appreciate the kindness in her heart as well. According to Griffin “It feels wonderful! Marvelous! To know that I went out to make somebody feel good about themselves! To let them know that there are some people out there that cares about them. Whether it's food, blankets, sleeping bags, water, clothes, socks, shoes, or love, the community comes together as one to help our brothers and sisters in need.”

You can contact Arnetta Griffin at her website,www.godskitchenofkenosha.com for her non-profit organization God’s Kitchen and donate a sum of money to help the cause, as well as to learn how to get involved. Griffin, in the spring is starting a fundraiser to raise money for a food truck and stated that “hopefully God is going to bless me with a warming center for the homeless. Arnetta is but one human being, but with God’s grace in her corner, she and so many others can make a big difference for so many unfortunate human beings’.
